You are required to submit:
1. A word processed report of approximately 5000 words. All numerical and graphical analyses should be included in this document and submitted via Unilearn, Turnitin following the link provided under Assignments/ Summative Assessments/ 1.The Word document.
2. The Excel file with your solved examples via Unilearn using the link provided under Assignments/ Summative Assessments/ 2.The Excel file(s).
Standard assessment criteria apply.
The front page of your report should consider the followings: student name and number; module code; assignment name; tutor name; total word count for the main text (this excludes the word count for the figures, tables, front page, references, table of contents and appendices).
Incorporate a table of contents after the front page.
At the end of your report, incorporate a list of references, appendices and the self-evaluation report.
You are required to research and develop your own case study material for this assignment. The case study can be a company based case study, or can be adopted and adapted from literature (Logistics, Supply Chain and Operational Research Journals), or can include examples from your past experience. If a full case study or parts of the case study are used from published, secondary material you are required to reference this appropriately.
You are required to:
A. Determine the case study as part of a supply chain system. Evaluate the supply chain case study and determine the critical issues within this case study (for example high inventory level, reduced customer service level, high transport cost, inappropriate use of performance measures, ability to return products and others). The developed case study needs to support the following 2 conditions:
(1) The case study has to incorporate the transportation and/or transshipment model.
(2) The case study has to allow for a return route where 20% of products can be returned to the original warehouse(s) and/or factories.
B. Describe the theoretical aspects related to the selected operational techniques in the context of your case study. Design and discuss the performance measures you are going to analyse in the context of your supply chain case study. Define the model and provide a numerical solution which would indicate an improvement on the selected performance measures.
C. Critically analyse and validate your proposed the developed model and results. Present your conclusions and give recommendations for the future.
D. Reflecting on your experience of doing this assignment, provide a self-evaluation on how preparing for this assignment helped you in your understanding of the logistics operations techniques. Please note: the answer to this question is a personal one so this part will not be assessed. However, it will be taken to form part of the overall evaluation intended to ascertain your understanding of the contributions of logistics operations techniques. This evaluation may be considered for the overall module evaluation and research. There will be no reference to your name if any information provided within this evaluation is used in research.

– The data used can be selected from past experience (for example previous jobs), or secondary data can be used (from published reports, journal papers or books);
