U.S. environmental policy toward Latin America (after 1990, during the 2000s)U.S. environmental policy toward Latin America (after 1990, during the 2000s)

Dear Essay Writer, these are the guidelines my professor posted online about this paper:
The following points should be kept in mind in writing the paper:
– The paper is worth 20% of your grade so don’t leave it for the last minute.
– The paper should be 5-6 pages in length (double-spaced and 12 point type), plus a 1-2 page bibliography.
– Papers must focus on some contemporary (post-1990) issue in U.S.-Latin American relations. Topics that focus on pre-1990 events or that deal only with Latin America and do not consider U.S. policy will NOT be admissible!!!
– In the paper you should discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the policy from an ETHICAL point of view. Be explicit about what ethical criteria you are using to evaluate this policy. What makes a policy ethical or unethical? How does the policy you are examining perform with respect to those criteria? You should also make some recommendations as to how the policy might be changed to satisfy your ethical criteria more effectively.
– You must use at least ten sources for the paper of which at least five should be lengthy academic sources—that is, books, articles from academic journals, or organizational reports of 20 pages or more. (You may access academic sources from Google Scholar, J-STOR..)
– I recommend using in-text parenthetical citations that include the author’s last name, the year of the publication, and the relevant page number(s). The full citation should be provided in the bibliography. However, other citation formats will be accepted as long as they provide all of the typical information.
– Any language coming directly from a source should be in quotation marks, but you should be careful not to include too many direct quotes (not more than 1 per page)

The recommended structure of the paper is as follows:
1) In the first couple of paragraphs you should identify the policy you are examining, discuss the ethical criteria you will be using to evaluate the policy, and summarize your argument about how well the policy has performed with respect to this ethical criteria.
2) You should then go on to describe the policy in detail and discuss its strengths and weaknesses with regard to the ethical criteria you have identified.
3) You may conclude by discussing what changes, if any, you would recommend that the U.S. make to the policy to help satisfy your ethical criteria.

You are stunned by the message. You fight the urge to fire off a hotly worded reply to straighten out the CEO's misperceptions. Instead, you wisely decide to send a message to your immediate superior first, explaining why you believe the new policy should be reversed. Using your boss's favorite medium (e-mail, of course!), write a persuasive message explaining why Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking technologies are valid and valuable business tools

There are three correspondence assignments that make up the formal writing assignment for the correspondence unit. This page contains the third correspondence assignment.

In this correspondence assignment, you'll create a message in response to the scenario below. (This case or scenario is from the textbook Business Communication Today.)

Once again, you may need additional information that isn't provided in the scenario. You may invent needed information, but it must be pertinent and realistic. In particular, I encourage you to consider the role that research (e.g., examples from other companies, advice from communication experts, etc.) can play in persuasive correspondence. (You should cite any research that you use.) Along similar lines, carefully consider what forms you-attitude, positive emphasis, and reader benefits will take in the message.

As someone who came of age in the era of blogs, wikis, social networks, and other Web 2.0 technologies, you were rather disappointed to find your new employer solidly stuck in the age of e-mail. You use e-mail, of course, but it is only one of the tools in your communication toolbox. From your college years, you have hands-on experience with a wide range of social media tools, having used them to collaborate on school projects, to become involved in your local community, to learn more about various industries and professions, and to research potential employers during your job search. (In fact, without social media, you might've never heard about your current employer in the first place.) Moreover, your use of social media on the job has already paid several important dividends, including finding potential sales contacts at several large companies, connecting with peers in other companies to share ideas for working more efficiently, and learning about some upcoming legislative matters in your state that could profoundly hamper your company's current way of doing business.

You hoped that by setting an example through your own use of social media at work, your new colleagues and company management would quickly adopt these tools as well. However, just the opposite has happened. Waiting in your e-mail inbox this morning was a message from the CEO announcing that the company is now cutting off access to social networking websites and banning the use of any social media at work for all employees except marketing employees. The message says that using company time and company computers for socializing is highly inappropriate and might be considered grounds for dismissal in the future if the problem gets out of hand.

Your task: You are stunned by the message. You fight the urge to fire off a hotly worded reply to straighten out the CEO's misperceptions. Instead, you wisely decide to send a message to your immediate superior first, explaining why you believe the new policy should be reversed. Using your boss's favorite medium (e-mail, of course!), write a persuasive message explaining why Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking technologies are valid and valuable business tools.

Note, this situation or scenario is the most complex of the ones you have completed this semester: notice that you're writing to an immediate supervisor about a policy that someone at an even higher level (the CEO) wrote. For this situation, take time to consider the power levels of everyone involved. In particular, consider carefully what action you should ask for (and how) and what kind of information your primary (and secondary) reader(s) would need to be persuaded to act. Consider, too, how your primary reader might use your message.

Grading Criteria:

An A message meets all of the assignment's requirements and accommodates the reader's needs. An A message establishes the purpose of the message clearly and maintains exemplary you-attitude, organizes content to maximize audience understanding, develops content to meet the audience's needs fully, and uses design/format options to help the reader identify key information. Grammar, mechanics, and format are flawless.
A B paper is deficient in at least one of the points above.
A C paper is deficient in two of the points above.
A D paper is deficient in several of the points above.
An F paper does not respond to the assignment.
