The purpose of this assignment is to integrate at both a conceptual and applied level the relevant personal learning from BUSA 514. Throughout the three weeks of residency and the two weeks post-residency on-line portion of this course, you will be asked to maintain a journal, reflecting on the learning from each experience.
Your final assignment will be to synthesize your personal learning, to describe that learning using course terminology, and to articulate the anticipated impact of that learning on your individual work units or organizations. The course readings, class presentations and your personal reflections should be considered a primary source of information for this assignment.
In addition to describing your learning, the assignment requires that you explain a personal implementation plan that includes: activities and behaviours you will initiate in your organization; expected outcomes; methodologies of measuring progress toward your plan; anticipated challenges of implementation and; mitigation tactics to address those challenges.
In completing the assignment, you are required to include content from the on-line portion of the course related to the topic of “resilience/balance/stress” and at least two other areas of content from the residency.
The assessment criteria for this assignment are the learning outcomes related to writing, critical thinking and problem-solving.
The assignment should be between 2000 and 2500 words and should be submitted through the assignment drop box.

California Senate Constitutional AmendmentGuidelines for online discussion “netiquette”

To ensure that the discussion board remains a “safe learning environment”, the following guidelines will be followed when posting comments, questions, or responses:
Respect and courtesy will be paramount at all times. There will be no “killer phrases” (from HDL692), and certainly no emotional outbursts, name-calling, or other “flames” or inflammatory statements. This is a master’s level class so it is assumed that you can state your opinions without using expletives.
To learn from each other, the instructor will usually stay out of the discussions. If the group discussion goes too far astray from the discussion topic, I will intervene to move you back on track. Your statements and whether you agree or disagree will not be the discussion grade determiner. The instructor will review the statements for depth of thought, critical thinking, etc.
Each student is expected to discuss the posted topics. A discussion isn’t possible if there is only one posting per student with no responses. Students are expected to submit their thoughts on the given topic at least one week prior to the assignment due date to allow further discussion. In addition, students are expected to read and reply other’s original posts (Some evidence = Responded substantively to six other’s original posts; Much evidence = Responded substantively to seven or more other’s original posts).
Discussion Topic
Please read the California Senate Constitutional Amendment 5 (SCA-5) (introduced on December 3, 2012, amended on May 30, 2013) and related analyses. http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi- bin/postquery?bill_number=sca_5&sess=CUR&house=S&author=hernandez_%3Chernandez%3 E
Please conduct internet search to find out more on the related issues (such as California Proposition 209, Grutter vs. Bollinger, Fisher vs. University of Texas at Austin et al, U.S. Census data, California public higher institution student recruitment and selection data, etc.)
Do you think that SCA-5 is a right solution to promote diversity in California public higher institution? Please explain.

In his I have a Dream speech, Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered the idea that “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” Is SCA-5 in line with Martin Luther King, Jr.’s dream? Please explain.
What do you think needs to be done so that your children can live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character? Please explain.
The original post shall have the following sections. Section 1: Findings from my internet search Section 2: My thought on the SCA-5 case Section 3: In his I have a Dream speech Section 4:

While in the air, it is a pilots duty to make sure everyone on board stays safe just like when on the ground it is the police's duty to keep everyone safe, the only difference is that pilots don't have firearms, at least not yet
Arming our Pilots

Questions:
1: Why is this an issue right now?

2: I want to know what kind of problems a Pilot could or would possibly encounter whilst flying an airliner.

3: Should Pilots even be allowed to possess firearms while on a plane? Would he have to store it in a safe or lock box unless he needed to use it? What kind of firearm are they planning on giving them or allowing them to carry onto flights?

4: I want to know what are the hazards of bringing a loaded weapon on board.

5: I want to find what lead up to the point where pilots needed firearms, I want to find out what pushed them to that breaking point.

6: What happened in the past that would make this a relevant issue today?

Thesis Statement:
While in the air, it is a pilots duty to make sure everyone on board stays safe just like when on the ground it is the police's duty to keep everyone safe, the only difference is that pilots don't have firearms, at least not yet.

Thesis Statement 2:
While firearms could potentially be used against the pilots if they were to fall into the wrong hands, pilots should be allowed to carry firearms for protection. It is the Pilots duty to protect every person on the flight no matter what. Its up to them to get the people to their destinations safely. Unfortunately, planes have been used in the past for terrorist attacks and have also been hijacked to many times. But, Just the idea of pilots having guns would most definitely decrease the amount of terrorist attacks involving planes.

Key Words:
     Guns on planes
     Pilots protection
     Gun safety
     Hijacked planes
Airport rules and regulations for pilots
     Safety on airlines
     Travel safety

     Air marshals
